After leading the Huskies to three national titles, Jim Calhoun, one of the greatest basketball coaches in history, has announced his retirement. During the Jim Calhoun era, the UConn Huskies have done well in the Big East Conference with an impressive 220–112 record, won or shared numerous conference titles and won seven Big East Men's Basketball Tournament championships in 1990, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2002, 2004 and 2011. UConn’s victory over Butler in 2011 made Calhoun, at 68, the oldest coach to win an NCAA Division I men's basketball title and placed him along John Wooden, Adolph Rupp, Bob Knight and Mike Krzyzewski as the only coaches to win at least three national championships.
